Supercars driver Will Davison has avoided injury despite being struck by a van which his wife said “swerved intentionally” at them while they were on a morning run.
Davison and his wife, Riana Crehan, were running on the Gold Coast on Monday when the incident occurred.
Crehan, a pitlane reporter for the Supercars television broadcasts, took to social media to speak out against the driver’s actions.
She said a white van had swerved intentionally at her and Davison while the pair were running in the bike lane on Hope Island Road at approximately 7.50am.
“I’m sorry ur (sic) so angry,” Crehan said.
“There much bigger things in the world then you being pissed at 2 people on a morning jog.”
After a flurry of replies, Crehan added that two-time Bathurst 1000 winner Davison was “fine” before describing the road as a “nightmare”.
The incident comes just weeks after Davison lost his full-time drive in the Supercars championship after the withdrawal of sponsor Milwaukee Racing.
That led to the demise of Davison’s 23Red Racing outfit with James Courtney replacing him in the fourth Ford for Tickford Racing for the remainder of the 2020 championship.
