Holden’s Tim Slade has topped the timesheets following Friday’s practice sessions at the V8 Supercars championship event in Perth.
Slade clocked a best lap of 56.7746 seconds at Barbagallo to finish ahead of championship contenders James Courtney and Mark Winterbottom.
Courtney, who has never finished on the podium in Perth, clocked a 56.8980 fastest lap with Ford star Winterbottom coming in third with a best lap of 56.9948.
Championship leader Jamie Whincup, who could only finish 10th in the day’s first session, came in 14th in the second run to show he’s got a bit of work to do ahead of Saturday’s two 25-lap races.
His teammate Craig Lowndes, hoping to become the first driver to post 100 V8 Supercars race wins this weekend, was back in 16th position after running second-fastest in the opening session.
The Perth event continues on Saturday with two qualifying sessions in the morning before the pair of 25-lap races in the afternoon.
An 83-lap race on Sunday wraps up the action.
