Reynolds claims Bathurst 1000 pole

Controversial Ford driver David Reynolds has claimed pole position for Sunday’s Bathurst 1000 at a wet Mount Panorama.

Reynolds enjoyed the better of shocking conditions on Saturday to clock two minutes, 27.82 seconds and emerge fastest in the top-10 shootout.

Kiwi Scott McLaughlin was second fastest (2:28.97) ahead of veteran Jason Bright (2:29.70).

Reynolds earlier in the week was fined $25,000 by V8 Supercars for making an offensive remark towards an all-female team at the Bathurst 1000.

It was the first wet shootout – which decides the Great Race’s top 10 grid spots – held since 2000.
