Supercars series leader Scott McLaughlin has grabbed provisional pole position for Sunday’s Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama.
Ford gun McLaughlin fell short of another record but still clocked a blistering two minutes, 04.22 seconds to top qualifying on Friday.
He was just 0.08 of a second shy of his scorching 2:04.14 effort on Friday morning – the fastest lap by a Supercar at Mount Panorama.
He finished ahead of Holden’s David Reynolds and Ford’s Chaz Mostert.
Top-10 grid positions for the Great Race will be determined by Saturday’s flying lap shootout from 5.10pm (AEDT).
