The line-up of international co-drivers for October’s V8 Supercars round on the Gold Coast has been finalised with the addition of Vitantonio Liuzzi on Wednesday.
The ex-Formula One driver will partner Ford’s Tony D’Alberto for the Surfers Paradise street circuit event, in his second appearance at the Gold Coast 600.
Liuzzi drove alongside D’Alberto at the Gold Coast 600 last year, failing to finish the first race before coming 19th in the second hit-out.
The 31-year-old said he was hopeful of improving his performance in this year’s event.
“V8 Supercars is always a dream category to me because I really enjoyed last year and performance and speed were good so I hope to repeat and become even stronger this year,” he said.
“I see that the team and Tony are having a stronger championship than last year so I hope we can aim for a big result this year.”
Liuzzi joins overseas-based Australian stars Will Power and Ryan Briscoe as well as international drivers Sebastien Bourdais and Mika Salo in the field for the October 19-21 Gold Coast round.
