Serial crash-artist Romain Grosjean has been handed a 10-place grid penalty for next month’s Canadian Grand Prix after ramming Australian Daniel Ricciardo out of the Monaco GP.
The Lotus driver smashed into the back of Ricciardo’s Toro Rosso, the crash forcing both men and their cars to retire from Sunday’s race and triggering a second Safety Car intervention.
Grosjean also crashed on Thursday and Saturday and damaged his car in every session of the weekend.
The Monaco race stewards made their decision to punish the Frenchman but allowed his Lotus team-mate Finn Kimi Raikkonen to escape with a reprimand for speeding under the Safety Car.
