Briton Jenson Button has given a strong hint he plans to stick with McLaren until the end of his Formula One career.

With the departure of his pampered compatriot Lewis Hamilton for a fatter pay packet at Mercedes this season, Button says he feels rejuvenated.

“It’s unbelievably different,” Button told The Guardian. “I’m really loving my job at the moment and I feel that whatever is thrown at me I should be able to control it.”

As McLaren’s undisputed No.1, Button will line up in this weekend’s season-opening Australian Grand Prix targeting his second straight victory at Albert Park.

“I feel very at home, I feel like I’d like to end my career here,” the 33-year-old said. “I’m not saying that’s going to happen soon. I don’t see me leaving. There’s no reason to.”

The 2009 world champion says he has the same goals as his rivals but believes he can achieve them at McLaren, where he will be paired with young Mexican star Sergio Perez.

“Some people decide to leave this team because they feel there’s another challenge, or something’s missing from their position,” Button said.

“For me, there is still so much to achieve.”

While he said “a few things didn’t work out for me” last season, Button ended the year on a high, winning the final race in Brazil.

“When you win a grand prix you want the next one to come round straight away,” he said.

“So this whole winter I’ve been very positive.

“Obviously there are changes in the team. I like change. I think we all like change. It makes it exciting, a new challenge.”
