Aussie West loses Moto2 results

Australian motorcyclist Anthony West has had all his results from the past 18 months annulled because of a doping offense.

West, 31, tested positive in May 2012 for the banned stimulant methylhexaneamine and was initially banned for one month.

The World Anti-Doping Agency appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, requesting a two-year suspension.

On Friday, CAS imposed an 18-month sanction going back to the date of the test.

While the suspension period has already expired, all of West’s results during that time have been erased.

West, who has raced in the Moto2 World Championship for the past four years, said the stimulant came from an energy drink and insisted he was unaware it contained the banned substance.
