Adelaide Supercars back to two race format

The season-opening Supercars round in Adelaide will revert back to two 250km races, organisers confirmed on Saturday.

The past two years the Clipsal 500 has featured two 125km races on a Saturday with a 250km Sunday event on the unforgiving street circuit.

“We’re going to bring it back,” South Australia’s Minister for Tourism Leon Bignell told Fox Sports on Saturday.

“We think that’s what the fans really like, and the drivers are really delighted with it.”

The 2017 opener will be held from March 2-5.

It is another tweak to the 2017 calendar after Supercars organisers announced a new event at Newcastle would replace the season-ending Sydney 500 next year, on a five-season deal.
