11 injury in Isle of Man TT crash

Eleven spectators were hospitalised on Friday following a crash during the Isle of Man TT motorcycle event.

Organisers said the injuries range from “slight to serious,” with none believed to be life-threatening.

The bike of rider Jonathan Howarth careered into spectators during a crash on the Bray Hill section of the course.

Howarth was unhurt and the injured spectators were taken to nearby Nobles Hospital.

Red flags were brought out to halt the event, which restarted more than three hours later.

Fatalities are common in the Isle of Man time trials, which are held on more than 60km of public roads around the island in the Irish Sea.

Japanese rider Yoshinari Matsushita was killed during practice last week following an accident at Ballacrye in the north of the island.
