Trainer Chris Waller’s untapped colt Zoustar has attracted a $10,000 bet at odds of $10 with Sportingbet to win the Group 1 Golden Rose, run at Rosehill on September 14.
The bet is the biggest single wager that has been placed on the 2013 Golden Rose so far.
Zoustar is now $8.50 at Sportingbet behind favourite Overreach at $5.50. Sidestep is on the second line of betting at $6.50, ahead of Eurozone at $8.00.
“The punters have been chipping away at Zoustar for a month and he’s our worst way by a long way at the moment,” Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.
“Clearly the colt has impressed plenty of punters in his two most recent trials,” Sullivan said.
Zoustar, an $11 chance with Sportingbet for the Caulfield Guineas and $41 for the Sportingbet Cox Plate, was $14 for the Golden Rose when Sportingbet commenced betting on July 16.
Fast N Rocking’s odds have also firmed from $15 into $12, while Cluster is $101 into $23 after a large volume of bets.
