Soon after celebrating the Group 1 win of filly Treasurethe Moment in the Australian Oaks last Saturday, the powerhouse Yulong racing and breeding operation has further bolstered its spring prospects by acquiring unbeaten two-year-old colt Vinrock.
Vinrock claimed the Group 1 Inglis Sires’ (1400m) at Randwick on April 5, solidifying his status as one of the top juveniles in the country. With his purchase, Yulong has furthered its relationship with Mornington trainer Matt Laurie, who now oversees both the dual Oaks winner and the top-tier colt.
“Yulong’s partnership with trainer Matt Laurie has been nothing short of exceptional,” a Yulong statement said.
“While Vinrock has already marked himself as an exceptional stallion prospect, we are hopeful that this talented colt can continue to build on his outstanding record, carrying the Yulong silks to further success later this year.”
Vinrock, by I Am Invincible, debuted victoriously at Pakenham in February before capturing the Group 2 Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Flemington on March 8, prior to his Sydney triumph.
The colt, bred by Rosemont Stud, earned a Racing and Sports rating of 114 following his performance in the Sydney leg of the Sires’ Produce Stakes.
“Yulong have been great to me, and we have already enjoyed huge success on the racecourse together with Treasurethe Moment,” Laurie said.
“I’m delighted with their purchase of Vinrock, he’s a ripping colt and we’re looking forward to an exciting spring.”
Laurie has enjoyed a strong 2024/25 season so far, boasting a winning strike-rate just over 20% and a place-rate of 42%.
