The Magic Millions race day at Wyong is shaping as a significant portent to the Gold Coast finale with several major fancies heading to the NSW provincial track.

Two of the top three horses in markets for next month’s $2 million feature, favourite Capitalist and his Peter and Paul Snowden-trained stablemate Niccolance, clash in Thursday’s Wyong Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

The Wyong field also contains Randwick winner Conchita and Victorian youngster Claro El Banco, the winner of the Clockwise Classic at Ballarat.

The Wyong Magic Millions 3YO and 4YO Stakes will be the campaign starting point for the Gai Waterhouse-trained Flamboyant Lass, who was beaten just over a length in the Group One Flight Stakes last spring.

The filly signalled she was in for another good campaign with a strong exhibition gallop at Warwick Farm last week.

She is on the second line of betting for the Magic Millions Guineas at $7, ahead of Flippant ($11) who will be among her rivals on Thursday.

A two-time stakes winner as a juvenile, Flippant was given a let-up after she failed to beat a runner home in the Brian Crowley Stakes at Randwick in October.
