An overseas trip for champion racemare Winx has been ruled out to concentrate on another Australian spring campaign.
Trainer Chris Waller ended months of speculation on Wednesday when said the world’s best thoroughbred would race on in Australia saying he believes this decision will prolong her career.
Pressure had been mounting on Waller and Winx’s connections to race the mare in the northern hemisphere after she had has swept all before with 24 consecutive Australian wins since 2015.
Winx will have her next start in the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes before she will be spelled for a Spring campaign which she will chase a fourth Group 1 Cox Plate.
