Mornington trainer Jason Warren is convinced Loot `n’ Run’s aversion to Flemington has created a chance for another city win at Saturday’s Caulfield meeting.

“He doesn’t like Flemington,” Warren said.

“He just doesn’t hit the line at Flemington as well as he does everywhere else.”

Loot `n’ Run’s Flemington form prompted Warren to bypass the Winter Championship series but the Sheen Group Handicap (1400m) at Caulfield appealed.

The gelding has drawn barrier seven, will carry 54.5kg after apprentice Katelyn Mallyon takes her claim and he appears the logical race leader.

“It’s perfect,” Warren said.

“He’ll take a power of beating on Saturday.”

Loot `n’ Run, a Caulfield winner on November 30 last year, finished second to Reparations at Listed level three starts ago.

The Dash For Cash gelding then posted successive fourths behind the in-form import Eigelstein at Randwick but Warren said Loot `N’ Run went too slowly in front last time out over 1600m.

Meanwhile, Warren says stable star Bel Sprinter is enjoying a long spell before he returns to competition late in the spring.

Bel Sprinter has not raced since a midfield finish in the Group One Goodwood in May, which completed a winless autumn for the six-year-old.

Warren said the Group One Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) in Perth in late November was an ideal spring target for Bel Sprinter.

“He’s very good on dry tracks and I’d like to give him a run in Melbourne and then take him over there,” Warren said.

“He’s better off around a bend rather than down the straight.”
