Vo Rogue Plate 2015: Trainer waiting for jockey declaration

Trainer Matt Dunn finds himself in the position of having to wait for scratchings before declaring a jockey for Perfect Dare in the Group Three Vo Rogue Plate.

Perfect Dare has run close seconds at Rosehill at his past two starts and Dunn rates him a good chance in Saturday’s Gold Coast race.

However, he was caught without a jockey when trainer Tony Gollan held Jim Byrne to the ride on first emergency My Girl Hayley.

“I thought we had Jim to ride Perfect Dare but Tony wants him,” Dunn said.

“If My Girl Hayley doesn’t get a run Jim, will ride my horse.”

“If there are scratchings and she runs we should be able to pick up another rider.”

The Murwillumbah-based trainer has a strong hand in the Vo Rogue Plate with Perfect Dare, Dram of Red and Madotti.

Dram of Red, a last start Doomben winner, drew barrier 17 but will run on Saturday.

“He has to go around to get ready for the Magic Millions Guineas. He is going well though,” Dunn said.

Dunn’s third runner Madotti drew barrier five which Dunn believes will be perfect for her.

“She has won one race in ten starts but it should be at least five wins. Maybe on Saturday things will go better,” he said.

“She is a filly and getting black type beside her name is very important.”

The appearance of Warwick Farm filly Egyptian Symbol in the Vo Rogue will be a good guide to the Magic Millions Guineas on January 9.

Egyptian Symbol ran second at her last start to Flippant in a Magic Millions race at Wyong last week.

Flippant is the $6 second favourite behind Mahuta ($4) for the Guineas while Egyptian Symbol is at $8.

Egyptian Symbol is trained by Bjorn Baker who won the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Unencumbered two years ago.
