Victorian bookmaker suspended by RAD Board

A Victorian bookmaker has been suspended and fined for recording fictitious bets over a three-year period.

Brian Mann fronted the Racing Appeals and Disciplinary Board on Thursday over a number of fictitious bets and bet-backs Racing Victoria stewards say occurred from July 2013 to May 2016.

During that period, 315 fictitious bets, with a turnover of $199,032 and a gross loss of $941,237, were recorded by Mann in the course of conducting his bookmaking business.

A total of 507 bet-backs, totalling $1.103 million was also recorded.

Mann also made a series of false representations between May 2016 and February 2017 regarding the bet-backs with, or through, an unknown unlicensed individual in the betting ring and over the recording of those bet-backs.

Mann pleaded guilty and was suspended for 12 months, beginning on November 24, and given 12 months to pay a $35,000 fine.
