A string of big bets for Hampton Court has seen the Gai Waterhouse-trained colt crunched from $2.90 into $2.65 at Sportingbet for Saturday’s Group 1 AAMI Derby.
Second favourite Preferment has drifted from $5 to $6 at Sportingbet as a result.
“The big punters have opened their wallets and gone bang,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.
“We were hit with a $20,000 bet, a $6,000 bet and two $3,000 bets in the space of a few hours on Thursday and even at the shorter odds there’s no sign of the money stopping.”
One Sportingbet punter thinks Light Up Manhattan is a chance at big odds and placed $2,000 at $21 on the Ciaron Maher-trained horse.
