Undefeated She’s Extra set for 2026 Magic Night Stakes after Warwick Farm win

Newcastle’s She’s Extra might find the Golden Slipper arriving too quickly, but the filly holds carnival potential after notching her second straight win in fine fashion at Warwick Farm.

The filly by Exceedance extended her perfect record from a four-length home-track score on February 14, claiming a strong 3-1/4 length defeat of Promenade in the All Too Hard @ Vinery Stud (1100m) Handicap on Wednesday.

Danny Greer, on behalf of Kris Lees, stated that the connections are eyeing the Magic Night Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on Saturday in two weeks, if she pulls up soundly from Warwick Farm.

Coming a week subsequent is the Golden Slipper (1200m), making the Group 2 Percy Sykes Stakes (1200m) at Randwick on April 11 a more realistic extended aim given the schedule.

“There is a two-year-old fillies’ race next Saturday. Should she come through this well, which hopefully she does, we will nominate for that,” Greer said.

“We will take our path from there. She might even be a Percy Sykes type of horse, but Kris will map a plan.”

Greer highlighted She’s Extra’s longstanding above-average quality, emphasizing that conquering her opening pair of races and moving up to Sydney standard is no small feat.

“It’s not easy to do for any horse, especially to go from a provincial race to a metro race,” he said.

“She has done it in good style, and she paraded really well today. She is a very professional type.”

Gerald Ryan shares elevated plans for Just Maz, unbeaten like She’s Extra across two runs after taking out Wednesday’s Ranvet Handicap (1300m) alongside her January Canterbury debut.

Raced by partners that encompass businessman John Singleton, the three-year-old looks toward the Group 3 James H B Carr Stakes (1400m) over 1400m at Randwick on April 18.

“That was the plan and that’s why we gave her the break after her first start,” Ryan said.

“She chased them down well, and was going to the line with her ears pricked. I don’t think we’ve gotten to the bottom of her yet.”
