News:

Gold Coast father-and-son training partnership Bryan and Daniel Guy has been building up a summer team away from the glare of city racing but are set to run promising two-year-old Animal Spirits at Doomben.

Animal Spirits was ready for her debut at Doomben on Saturday but Guy scratched her when she drew barrier 13.

“It is virtually impossible to win from wide barriers at the Doomben 1110 metres as a couple of others found out on Saturday,” Bryan Guy said.

“She is a Magic Millions horse so we have to start thinking about getting some prize money.

“I am inclined to run her at Doomben on Saturday and hopefully she draws a good barrier.”

The filly is one of 15 entries for Saturday’s 1050m-race with 12 as yet unraced.

Animal Spirits won a recent Gold Coast barrier trial in similar time to open company horses Rudy and Siegfried in their heat wins.

She is by first season sire Spirit Of Boom and races in similar interests to the Guys former top galloper Noisy Ocean.

The stable has been using the Gold Coast meetings as a launching pad for a couple of other summer hopefuls including three-year-old Lunar Missile who won a maiden last Tuesday in easy fashion.

It confirmed Lunar Missile’s recent trial where he won in a time almost two seconds faster than the open company horses on the day.

Guy has a big wrap on the gelding who is raced by a Wylie Dalziel syndicate.

“I will give him another run at the Gold Coast and then head to town to try to qualify for the Magic Millions Guineas,” Guy said.

Another smart three-year-old, Nashville Skyline, won a maiden at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Guy thought enough of her to run her in the Group One Champagne Stakes in Sydney last season.
