It is almost as if he refuses to slow down, with Zou Sensation set to line up again at Caulfield on Saturday.
The gelding has been in work for more than a year and while trainers Leon and Troy Corstens, along with Will Larkin, have been monitoring him closely for signs he may need a spell, those signs are yet to appear.
Zou Sensation capped off 2025 with a strong win in the Listed Kensington Stakes (1400m) on New Year’s Eve at Flemington.
The six-year-old now heads to the Listed John Dillon Stakes (1400m), a race he tackles at a venue where he has won three times from five appearances since May.
“We can’t fault him,” Will Larkin said.
“If there were any faults from his last start to now, he’d be in the paddock but the true warrior that he is, he keeps copping everything we throw at him and he came through the run really well.
“His gallop work has been super and he was nice and fresh down at the beach this week.
“I can’t see why he can’t hold the form.”
Zou Sensation has firmed in from $3.90 to $2.90 since markets opened, with Jamie Melham again taking the ride despite the 59-kilogram impost.
“He just loves his racing and we keep things simple, sending him up the farm between runs where he gets his head down in the paddock,” Larkin said.
“I think he can carry the weight.”
The Malua Racing team will also saddle up Superlicious, a $5 chance in the Remembering Ted Ryan (1400m), with the mare third-up from a spell.
Larkin said the decision to head to Caulfield instead of Pakenham was carefully considered.
“She is definitely ready to go,” he said.
“I really want to get another win with her. Fifteen starts for one win, she deserves to be a lot more than that.
“She’s been tested in really good races and has been stakes placed four or five times. It’s not that she’s not good enough, she’s just had some bad luck with barriers.”
Those assessing the John Dillon Stakes can compare the latest betting markets for the race ahead of Saturday’s meeting.
