Trainer Joe Pride is closely monitoring the Rosehill track conditions to decide if Accredited will participate in the Winter Stakes. The track was rated a heavy 9 on Thursday, and Pride hopes it improves to the soft range, as Accredited performs best on firmer ground.
While eager to run the horse, Pride is prepared to wait if conditions remain unsuitable, emphasizing the importance of patience and proper management over immediate results.
If Accredited doesn’t race, he may be freshened for the Missile Stakes (1200m) in August.
“It has been an unfortunate winter for him because there was always a chance it was going to be wet and he just hasn’t had much luck yet,” Pride said.
“He is a nice horse and the main thing I have found in these instances is you just look after the horse, get them through the period, don’t run them in unsuitable races and then you’ve still got a horse there at the end of it.”
Accredited has secured seven wins from 17 starts, with a notable exception being a disappointing run at Sandown Hillside in May.
“He had won at Nowra, Warwick Farm, Randwick. I thought, this is a good horse to travel, he is versatile. But, no. He didn’t have a bar of it,” Pride said.
Returning to Randwick, Accredited delivered an impressive win, thanks to a strategic ride by Nash Rawiller.
“I thought he was the best horse in the race. He was just looking for a decent ride and he got that and he won well,” he said.
Stablemate Estadio Mestalla is confirmed for the Winter Stakes (1400m), with blinkers added and a more aggressive riding plan to improve his early campaign performance.
Emergencies Cool Jakey and Testator Silens await scratchings to secure a spot. Pride is particularly hopeful for Cool Jakey, who excels on heavy tracks, winning four of eight starts under such conditions.
“The dryer track was against him last start. He is a pure wet tracker and he looks like he will get that again Saturday,” Pride said.
