It is a very good edition of the Toy Show Quality with ten fillies and mares lining up to take part in the G3 event. We see the return of ATC Oaks winner Royal Descent who looked like she may be capable of producing a forward showing first up judging by her barrier trial earlier this month – punters certainly think so and she’s opened up the $2.10 favourite. She’ll be made earn the win though as among her nine competitors are some smart types capable of causing an upset.

1. ROYAL DESCENT – N Rawiller (10)
She went from a Canterbury maiden to the ATC Oaks in the space of seven starts last prep and the Oaks win – she won by ten lengths – has everyone anticipating her return. She does have the widest gate and 59kgs to contend with but, improved by lengths with every start last time in and the break would have only been of further benefit to her.

2. CRAFTY IRNA – S Clipperton (4)
She was off a ten week break when running a nose second to Dystopia in this race last year and follows a similar pattern this year as well. She hasn’t raced since running sixth in the Lord Mayor’s Cup (2000m) at Rosehill back in May of this year but did have a trial last week. She ran second to last in the trial but historically, has produced similar trial efforts before good first up performances.
3. NO LOOKING BACK – T Berry (1)
Lightly raced 4yo mare who has had more barrier trials then she has had starts. She resumed from a spell in the Listed Denise’s Joy Stakes during the Scone carnival in May but getting back on a leader bias track saw her run ninth of twelve behind Diamond Earth. She followed that up with a plain effort behind She’s Clean in the June Stakes and was immediately spelled. Goes well fresh and has the Carrington Stakes on her resume to show for it. Drawn ideally in one and has to be rated a legitimate chance.
4. HIDDEN KISSES – G Schofield (9)
Former QLD galloper who, after running eighth in the Listed Gai Waterhouse Stakes at Ipswich, was transferred to the stables of Chris Waller with instant results. She produced an eye-catching effort first up for Waller when second to Follonica and backed that up with a nose win over Next The Universe in a BM 85. Drops 4kgs on that run and is definitely with the right yard.
5. FOLLONICA – J Cassidy (2)
Well travelled 6yo mare who now resides with Bjorn Baker here at Warwick Farm. She had a nice run in transit when scoring a head win over Hidden Kisses in a BM 84 before having the same horse turn the tables on her a fortnight ago where she found herself in front last start with 59.5kgs and a slow track. Could easily bounce back here.
6. SCORPIO QUEEN – T Clark (5)
Choisir 5yo who has only had two starts since finishing well down the track in the 2012 Qld Oaks. Neither of those starts have been encouraging and the fact that she’s first up here off a seventeen week spell means she’s entitled to be a big price.
7. QUEEN’S ELECT – J Collett (8)
Representing the in-form David Payne stable, this 4yo mare has won her last two – both in good style and deserves her shot at a race of this calibre. She accounted for Next The Universe and Titbit three weeks back at her most recent start and whilst this is a jump in class, she’s going well enough to produce an effort here.
8. CIAO – B Avdulla (3)
Three wins from twenty-three starts probably is enough to give you an indication of this mare’s chances in a race like this – especially when her last win was in a mid-week Canterbury BM 70 event. She’s been in average form of late in races of much less quality than this one and is aiming too high here.
9. AMELIORATE – K McEvoy (7)
After securing her second win from six starts in a Class 1 at Goulburn, the Guy Walter trained mare had little luck in a BM 79 race at Randwick when third behind Queen’s Elect. That effort saw her installed 4/1 in a restricted race at Warwick Farm but she failed to make an impression on the field in the run home and finished fifth. Don’t know if the drop back to 1300 from 1400 will be to here benefit and would need a genuine pace on up front to have any chance.
10. PINOCCHIO – G Boss (6)
Stable-mate to Ameliorate this Encosta De Lago mare has won one form eight – that being a Wyong Maiden at her third start. None of her of subsequent starts would suggest she’ll be winning here.
OVERVIEW
No Looking Back leads and she’ll be ready to go first up. She’s had two trials, won the most recent in good style and drawn to be in the right spot. Must admit to being slightly concerned about the 1300m but if she were to get the trip, this would probably be the track. Not sure I’d be rushing in to the even money on offer about the top weight – for that particular reason. 59kgs first up, from a wide gate where she’ll be giving them a start, there’s enough question marks there to shop around that price. Hidden Kisses and Crafty Irna next best for mine, the former has been good in two recent Sydney starts and Craty Irna was a nose second in this race last year and has been placed in Group company first up previously.
