Todman Stakes winner out of Golden Slipper 2025

Promising two-year-old Tentyris will not race again this season after Anthony & Sam Freedman confirmed that the colt suffered an issue following his impressive victory in the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m) on Saturday.

“Tentyris was found to be lame after his impressive win in the Group 2 Todman Stakes at Randwick on Saturday. A thorough vet’s assessment has revealed an injury to his left hind leg,” the stable announced in a social media post.

“Unfortunately, this will put an end to his autumn campaign, and he will not take his place in the Group 1 Golden Slipper.”

“This is very disappointing for the horse and his connections. He is a very exciting colt going forward and we look forward to having him back for the 2025 Spring Carnival.”

Tentyris had previously dead-heated with Shining Smile to win the Listed Talindert Stakes (1100m) before narrowly missing out on victory in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield, finishing just behind Devil Night.

His latest triumph at Randwick saw him defeat race-favourite Wodeton, who has since drifted to $5 for the Golden Slipper, now sharing the top spot in the market with Group 2 Reisling Stakes (1200m) winner Tempted.

Anthony Freedman, under his brother Lee’s name, played a role in training four consecutive Golden Slipper winners between 1993 and 1996. Meanwhile, Sam Freedman has come close in recent years, finishing sixth with Artorius in 2021 and fourth with Daumier in 2022.
