Tiger Tees wins The Galaxy 2014 for Pride, Rawiller

Trainer Joe Pride has collected his second Group One win in seven days with Tiger Tees taking out the $400,000 Galaxy.

One of three Pride-trained runners in 1100-metre sprint at Rosehill on Saturday, Tiger Tees ($13) was given a perfect run by jockey Nash Rawiller.

He surged to the front at the 350m before holding on to beat the Victorian filly Anatina ($15) with Villa Verde ($6) finishing third.

Pride, who trained Steps In Time to win the Group One Coolmore Classic last week, said Tiger Tees’ inside barrier made the difference.

“He was always drawn to get a good run and it panned out beautifully for him,” he said.

Rawiller said the soft track helped Tiger Tees become a Group One winner.

“He’s come here today on a heavy track which suits him and sometimes you need that little inch in your favour to win it,” he said.
