It’s back to its traditional midweek home, and we’ll be treated to another outstanding edition of the Group 1 Thousand Guineas at Caulfield.
Some of the country’s best three-year-old fillies will take their place in the 2021 Thousand Guineas field, and a terrific betting race has materialised.
You can find my complete 2021 Thousand Guineas Tips below.
Thousand Guineas – Winner – No. 1 Swift Witness
I’ve stuck with her every time that she has stepped out this spring, and the Thousand Guineas looks a very winnable race for Swift Witness.
Swift Witness stamped herself as filly to follow during an impressive summer campaign, and she returned a winning this time with an eye-catching performance in the Group 2 Silver Shadow Stakes.
She hasn’t returned to winning form in three subsequent starts, but she also wasn’t far away from the winner on any occasion, and she takes her place in this race off the back of a credible fourth in the Group 1 Flight Stakes.
The $12 we are getting in Thousand Guineas betting at publish is over the odds in my opinion, and I am more than happy to dive in again.
Thousand Guineas – 2nd – No. 10 Barb Raider
She looks to be a very good filly, and Barb Raider can continue her rise through the grades with a competitive showing in the Thousand Guineas.
The daughter of Rebel Raider is yet to return a poor effort since debuting, but she has also improved noticeably with each start and proved far too good for a quality field in the Oaks Trial at Flemington late last month.
Craig Williams retains the ride, and the filly is drawn to receive a lovely run from barrier 3.
Thousand Guineas – 3rd – No. 6 Zouzarella
Zouzarella is another filly that is yet to race poorly, and she has opened favourite in Thousand Guineas betting.
The Zoustar filly stamped herself as one to watch when debuting for consecutive wins, including the Listed Atlantic Jewel Stakes, and she was last seen finishing second behind Queen Of Dubai in the Jim Moloney Stakes at Sandown.
She harbours plenty of upside and has the notable advantage of in-form hoop Brett Prebble in the saddle, who has already struck four times in Group 1 company this season.
Thousand Guineas – 4th – No. 4 Bon’s A Pearla
Bon’s A Pearla looks to be some serious value in Thousand Guineas betting at around the $20 mark.
The Bon Hoffa filly has had four starts since making her debut in July, and she has continued to improve with each and as Kevin Corstens has raised the bar, culminating in an eye-catching win in the Group 2 Prelude here last month.
Getting out to a mile looks as though it would suit, and I for one wouldn’t be shocked to see her deliver Corstens and jockey Jason Maskiell a fairy-tale Group 1 victory.
