Think It Over on track for the 2021 Chelmsford Stakes

The Kerry Parker-trained Think It Over has come through his first-up run in the Winx Stakes well and is all guns blazing heading into the Chelmsford Stakes this Saturday.

Kerry Parker’s Group One winner Think It Over is on song heading into Saturday’s Group Two Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.

The six-year-old finished just 0.6 lengths behind the winner in the Winx Stakes fresh from a spell and boasts a handy record when second-up.

Nash Rawiller will ride the son of So You Think, who finished a close second in the Ajax Stakes when second-up last preparation before going on to win the George Ryder Stakes at Group One level.

Parker said Think It Over has progressed well since his fresh run and despite holding a Melbourne Cup nomination, the 2021 Cox Plate will be his target this spring.

“I’m really happy with him, he’s progressed along lovely,” he said.

“He was in a lovely spot (last start), it was just as he got out, he didn’t get out smooth.

“He was knocked off balance, but he picked himself up and found the line well.

“I think the horse ran really super.

“The Cox Plate is his main target.

“The Melbourne Cup just keeps options open so to speak, but it’s not definitely on the radar, it’s more Cox Plate preparation.”

Tampering will also make the trip to Randwick on Saturday, with the five-year-old looking for a hat-trick of wins in the Midway Handicap (1800m).

The son of Pendragon went over a year without a win before claiming victory at Kembla Grange first-up and made it two in a row with a Midway win a fortnight ago.

Parker said everything has set up nicely for the five-year-old, with the rise in trip expected to suit the gelding.

“Everything’s fallen into place really nicely,” he said.

“He’s obviously got to go up in weight this week from his last Midway performance, but 1800m suits and he gets a chance to win another Midway.

“He was able to win a special conditions race at Kembla Grange first-up, everything fell into place there for him and then in the Midway, he showed how tough he was and kept grinding away.

“He’s just had those couple of races that turn up at the right time for him and he’s been able to get the luck in running.”

Think It Over is an $6 chance for the Chelmsford Stakes on Saturday and a $34 chance for the Cox Plate with tab.com.au.
