Ranvet Stakes winner The United States will be focused on the $3,000,000 Cox Plate for trainer Robert Hickmott.

The stallion was an early favourite for the upcoming Group 3 Naturalism Stakes (2000m) but will no longer run on Saturday. The owners and trainers are now setting their sights on the Group 1 Cox Plate at Moonee Valley in over a months time.

The United States was a last start 6th behind Awesome Rock in the 1600m Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley.

Although it’s expected to meet talented galloper Winx in the Cox Plate, The United States has still been well fancied in the betting and is currently a $15 shot.

Hickmott has 3 other runners nominated for the Naturalism on Saturday.

The United States is now being targeted towards Cox Plate by owner Lloyd Williams. Won’t run Sat. Goes Turnbull with Damien Oliver riding.
