The Showdown Tips, Field Preview and Selections – 2020

The Showdown is for SUPER VOBIS eligible horses with in-form trainers Ciaron Maher and David Eustace to saddle up two runners, Ideas Man and Galactic Fury.

Ballarat trainer Matt Cumani also has two starters, Khoekhoe and Coup De Tonnerre, and co-trainers Matthew Ellerton and Simon Zahra are also chasing the major prize with River Night and Chrome Angel.

Ideas Man showed early promise with a debut win in the Inglis Banner (1000m) at The Valley in October last year. The Ciaron Maher and David Eustace trained colt never threatened when twelfth in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield on February 22 and can improve on on his latest seventh in an 1100m 2yo Handicap at Caulfield on April 4.

Galactic Fury from the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable is yet to win from four race starts but expect improvement on his latest sixth in a 1200m Rosehill 2yo Maiden in December last year.

Just A Tribute scored on debut in a 1112m Ballarat 2yo Maiden and gets his chance to share in the huge prizemoney on offer.

Coup De Tonnerre

Coup De Tonnerre is getting closer to the winner’s stall with a last start second in a 1200m Echuca 2yo Maiden on April 5 but is facing a tougher assignment here.

Fender Bender

Fender Bender will gain a lot of experience from his debut second in a Ballarat 2yo Maiden and lookforimprovement.

Beau Rossa

South Australian two year old Beau Rossa ran home for third on debut in a 1000m 2yo Handicap at Morphettville Parks and is certain to take advantage from that run but has to overcome a wide barrier.

Sydney colt Write On is making the trip to Caulfield and has a chance to pick up some of the minor prizemoney after finishing third on debut in a 1000m Kembla Grange 2yo Maiden on April 7.

Heeza Commander

Heeza Commander never threatened on debut when ninth in a 1000m Bendigo 2yo Maiden.

River Night

River Night has to be considered as the one to beat on her win two starts back in the Listed Redoute’s Choice Stakes (1000m) at Caulfield on March 14. Has since finished fifth as favourite in Bendigo VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at the Bendigo Metro meeting on March 28. Can bounce back.

Tarcoola Diva

Tarcoola Diva showed rapid improvement with a second up second in a 1200m Caulfield 2yo Handicap last Saturday and can figure in the mix again.

Miss Inbetween

Miss Inbetween has been placed twice at Sandown from three starts and heads to Caulfield on the back of a seventh in the Bendigo VOBIS Gold Rush (1000m) at the Bendigo Metro meeting on March 28.

Chrome Angel

Chrome Angel is a winner from her only start in a 1000m Bendigo 2yo Maiden on April 7. A likely improver with Craig Williams in the saddle.

Hybrid Theory

Hybrid Theory scored on debut in a 1108m Bathurst 2yo Maiden on February 24 before finishing ninth the Group 3 Magic Night Stakes (1200m) at Rosehill on March 14. A lot easier here but got the visitor’s draw.

Archipeta Beach

Archipeta Beach got the money on debut in a Geelong 1135m 2yo Maiden but will find this tougher.

Cornucopia

Cornucopia looks tested on her debut fourth in a 1000m Bendigo 2yo Maiden on March 28.

Miss Kansas

Miss Kansas is a first starter by Toronado out of Longing.

Halvoya

Halvoya is a first starter by Unencumbered out of Flourishing.

Night Of Delight

Night Of Delight is a first starter Night Of Thunder out of Whitten’s Delight.
