The Rosebud Form Guide

1. NORTHERN GLORY – J Cassidy (7) 58kgs

The first of two Gai Waterhouse runners, this filly had won three of five starts heading into her last start which was at Randwick a fortnight ago. She settled in a good spot during the race but was no match for Watabout late and finished third, 2 ¼ lengths from the winner. She gave Watabout 3.5kgs last start and meets here at level weights today but still hard to see her getting the better of that filly, at least, especially from a wide gate.

Eurozone

2. WATABOUT – N Rawiller (8) 58kgs

Well bred More Than Ready filly who has won her last three starts, the most recent in very good style. After settling toward the tail of the field, Rawiller forced his way through as the field topped the Randwick rise and the Alan Denham trained galloper extended well to win by 2 ¼ under a good hold. Rises in weight but would think there’s more improvement in her again and interesting to see Rawiller as stick with her over Bull Point.

3. BULL POINT – T Berry (2) 58kgs

The second of the Watherhouse’s runners and winner of two of his three starts, the son of Fastnet Rock last start effort at Rosehill three weeks ago, was a very dominate win. He drew barrier seven in a field of nine and sat wide but was still able to draw away from his rivals over the final furlong to win by three lengths. Is obviously smart but mindful he might need a touch of luck from two.

4. DISSIDENT – T Clark (10) 58kgs

Peter Moody trained galloper who was very impressive on debut back in January winning the G3 Blue Diamond Preview over Kurisho. He than ran third in the Blue Diamond Prelude to Kurisho before drawing the widest gate and finishing seventh behind Miracles of Life in the Blue Diamond Stakes. Big raw type, who has his fair share of ability and would mind the room he’ll get from his draw, to wind up. Good each way chance at $15.00

5. EUROZONE – J Bowman (5) 57kgs

Two starts for two wins for the son of Northern Meteor trained by newly formed partnership of Bart and James Cummings. Drew gate one at his most recent start, settled in the right spot and was able to stave off the challenge of Bull Point at his most recent start, a month ago. Has been kept up to the mark with a barrier trail and his form as certainly been franked.

6. GOOD JOB BRO – J McDonald (3) 56.5kgs

He relished the heavy conditions to win his only race to date – an Open 2yo race at Warwick Farm before attempting the better class races but being well accounted for in both the Skyline Stakes and Pago Pago. He hasn’t raced since the Pago Pago, some nineteen weeks ago and trainer John Sargent hasn’t trialled the son of Choisir.

7. DREAM FORWARD – C Reith (4) 56.5kgs

8. DOWDSTOWN CHARLIE – J Collett (1) 56.5kgs

Lining up for start number nine, this David Payne trained galloper has won one from eight and appears to save his best for rain affected ground. He’s attempted stakes races in the past but was well accounted for in the Canonbury Stakes and JJ Atkins Stakes when competing in Brisbane during the winter. Would prefer in something easier.

9. MR. ENTERTAINER – (6) 56.5kgs

A Mossman colt trained by Gosford conditioner Grant Allard who ran second to Bull Point two starts back and backed that up with another second placing behind Windjammer in a BM 72 race at Rosehill last week over 1100m. Closed from well back last start and the extra trip suits but would’ve wanted to see him win last week to be considered a legitimate chance here.

10. ONE STEP BEYOND – P Robl (9)

Northern Meteor gelding who debuted in the G2 Pago Pago Stakes during the Autumn where he finished midfield behind Sidestep, who went on to run a place in the Golden Slipper. Trainer Anthony Cummings than immediately spelled him and he return with a narrow win in a Gosford Maiden. Creates some interest but still prepared to watch and wait.

OVERVIEW

Good Job Bro, Eurozone and from wider out, Northern Glory all to go forward. Sticking with the filly Watabout. She gives the boys weight and it takes a good filly to do that and win but she might just be one. The owners have had a wonderful time of it lately (Overreach, Bennetta, Ichihara) and reckon their good fortune may continue here. She showed a good turn of foot once she was in the clear last start and won with something to spare. Obviously Bull Point and Eurozone have to go in and would keep a close eye on Dissident. We haven’t seen him at the trials but if he’s come even a little from earlier in the year, he could be finishing over the top.
