Telegraph Handicap 2017: Wide draw for Odyssey Moon

Australian sprinter Odyssey Moon will have to overcome a wide barrier to win the Group One Telegraph Handicap in New Zealand.

Odyssey Moon came up with barrier 19 in the field of 18 plus three emergencies for Saturday’s Group One sprint over 1200m at Trentham.

The Robert Smerdon-trained entire, to be ridden by Noel Callow, won the Group Three Standish Handicap at Flemington last start.

Connections pinpointed the Telegraph Handicap as an opportunity for Odyssey Moon to chase a valuable Group One win to enhance his stud prospects.

Odyssey Moon was placed at the elite level as a two-year-old in the ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes in Sydney.
