Phillip Stokes is aiming for blacktype success this Saturday at Morphettville with fillies Comanche Miss and Pelevecchio in the Clare Lindop Stakes (1600m).
The duo will look to secure blacktype before more fillies enter bigger races in the coming weeks.
Comanche Miss, targeting the Australasian Oaks (2000m), could step up through the Group 3 Auraria Stakes (1800m) on April 12.
Prepared at Stokes’ Victorian base in Pakenham, Comanche Miss is yet to claim a win in seven starts, but does have a blacktype placing.
“She’s Stakes placed but hasn’t won a race though,” Stokes said. “She gives us all the indications that she will be a 2000-metre horse.”
Pelevecchio, who scored her maiden win at Morphettville in December, recently finished fifth in the Listed Morphettville Guineas (1600m) behind stablemate Gala Queen.
“This will probably be her final run before a break,” Stokes said, adding he believes Comanche Miss is in better form.
