Magic Millions favourite Paradoxium has suffered a significant interruption to his summer campaign after being scratched from the BJ McLachlan Stakes at Eagle Farm.
The colt made the trip from Sydney to Brisbane on Tuesday night and initially appeared bright, however trainer Bjorn Baker later revealed the youngster had become unwell upon arrival.
As a result, Paradoxium was withdrawn from Saturday’s Group 3 contest, which had been set to serve as his final lead-up run to the Magic Millions Classic (1200m) next month.
The setback saw bookmakers ease the colt from $3.50 outright favouritism to $4, now sharing the top line with stablemate Warwoven.
Baker will continue to assess Paradoxium over the coming days before deciding whether to push on towards the $2 million feature on January 17.
With Paradoxium out of the McLachlan, attention has shifted to the Ciaron Maher-trained Tornado Valley, who takes over favouritism at $2.15.
Tornado Valley was placed in the Debutant Stakes (1000m) before claiming the Maribyrnong Plate (1000m) during the Flemington carnival.
