Spring Racing Carnival 2016: Chautauqua to stay at home

Champion sprinter Chautauqua will stay in Australia for the spring with connections to bypass a trip to the Sprinters Stakes in Japan.

Managing owner Rupert Legh said the quarantine restrictions in Australia swayed him and co-trainer John Hawkes the Japanese trip was not in the best interests of the horse.

Legh told Melbourne radio RSN, Chautauqua would run in three Group One races in Australia before contesting the International Sprint in Hong Kong in December.

Chautauqua’s Spring campaign is likely to include the G1’s: Moir Stakes, Manikato Stakes and VRC Sprint Classic.
