Dalasan

Dalasan has hit top form with wins in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m) and in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2035m) at Morphettville and the Leon Macdonald and Andrew Gluyas trained colt will be flying the flag for South Australia in the 2020 South Australian Derby. Dalasan will be tested over the 2500m for the first time but was strong at the end of the 2035m for the Chairman’s Stakes and will be hard to beat again.

Warning

The Anthony Freedman trained Warning is proven over the South Australian Derby distance of 2500m with his win in the Group 1 Victoria Derby over the same distance during the 2019 Melbourne Spring Carnival. Warning looks to be back on track after running on from the second half of the field to finish third to Dalasan in the Chairman’s Stakes (2035m) at Morphettville and is ready to peak over the 2500m on Saturday.

Themoonlitegambler

Themoonlitegambler is racing in good form with placings at his last two starts with a third in the Listed Port Adelaide Guineas (1800m) and a second in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2035m) at Morphettville. The John McArdie trained three year old was brave in defeat last start when second after setting the pace and another strong performance can be expected.

Russian Camelot

Russian Camelot booked his place ion the South Australian Derby with a seven lengths win in a Pakenham BenchMark 64 Handicap on April but will find this a lot tougher over the 2500m.

Miyake

Miyake made up good ground from the back when a winner over 1900m in a Canterbury BenchMark 70 Handicap  on April 22. Up in class and distance here and place at best.

Saint Eustace

Saint Eustace will have no trouble handling the 2500m of the South Australian Derby after finishing a nose second in the 2800m VRC St Leger at Flemington on Anzac Day. The Mick Price and Michael Kent (Jnr) trained gelding is bred to stay all day and could figure in the mix.

Rising Archie

Rising Archie broke through for his maiden win two starts back over 1600m at Ararat and then ran a handy race when third in a 2100m 3yo Handicap at Sandown last Saturday. Harder here.

Rock Steady

Rock Steady finished just behind the placegetters when fifth in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2035m) at Morphettville on Anzac Day and place chance at best.

St Arnicca

St Arnicca was always near the tail of the last start when twelfth in the Listed VRC St Leger (2800m) at Flemington. Looking for something easier.

Exalted Ambition

Exalted Ambition was always well back and never threatened last start when sixth in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2035m) at Morphettville. Facing similar opposition here.

Sowpods

Sowpods looks tested on latest eighth in the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes (2035m) at Morphettville.

Moonlight Maid

Moonlight Maid is the first of the three fillies in the 2020 South Australian Derby to take on the colts and geldings over the 2500m. Moonlight Maid finished third in the Group 1 Kennedy Oaks over 2500m during the 2019 Melbourne Spring Carnival and was Group 1 placed again last Saturday when runner up in the Schweppes Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville. Has been set a tough task to back up week to week.

Silent Sovereign

Silent Sovereign is another filly backing up out of the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) but will find this tougher than her tenth against the fillies last Saturday.

Zayydani

Zayydani made up some ground over the concluding stages last Saturday when seventh in the Group 1 Schweppes Oaks (2000m) at Morphettville but will find this tougher.
