Ascot trainer Neville Parnham continued his strong run of form with resurgent sprinter Snowdome, who claimed victory in the Listed Tabtouch Pinjarra Classic (1300m) at Pinjarra.
Ridden confidently by Brad Parnham, Snowdome controlled the race from the front, withstanding sustained pressure from Man Crush before digging deep to hold on for a narrow neck victory.
Man Crush fought hard down the straight but had to settle for second, finishing 1 ½ lengths ahead of Final Siren, who filled the minor placing. Ice Pick Nick finished fast from the rear but never looked likely to catch the leaders, crossing the line in fourth.
This win reaffirmed Snowdome’s resurgence after a period of mixed performances, marking his second consecutive feature race triumph following his success in the Cyril Flower Stakes (1200m) at Ascot.
Snowdome was a standout as a two-year-old, winning the Sires’ but struggled to maintain his top-level form after securing the Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1000m) two years ago. However, Parnham credits the decision to geld the son of Rommel last year as a turning point in his career.
“His last couple of runs have been really, really top class,” Parnham said.
“I know this is not carnival-type horses, there’s a couple there that have performed very well, but he seems to be in great form.
“Certainly, gelding him after his last prep was a good move.
“He’s not as moody as he used to be, doesn’t sweat up as much as he used to.
“Clearly, it’s been a good decision to do that, he’s very sound and happy.
“We’re getting the right results with him.”
Parnham is now considering Snowdome’s next target, with the 1400m Bunbury Stakes shaping as a logical option, though no final decision has been made.
“I’m not sure what to do with him at the moment,” Parnham said.
“I’ll chat to Brad to see what he thought of the run and whether he would get 1400m.
“We’ll have a think about it and work from there.”
With his Pinjarra triumph, Snowdome now boasts nine wins from 25 starts, edging closer to the $1 million prizemoney milestone.
