Snicki Minaj races into Inglis Classic

Smart two-year-old filly Snicki Minaj atoned for an unlucky first-up run to earn a chance at the Inglis Classic in Sydney with her Doomben win on Saturday.

Snicki Minaj, the $3.10 favourite, went straight to the lead and raced away to beat Clockwise ($4.60).

The filly ran seventh in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes at her first start but trainer Tony Gollan felt she should have finished in the first three.

The race was won by stablemate Outback Barbie who franked the form with a third in the Magic Millions 2YO Classic.

Gollan said Snicki Minaj would head to the Sydney for the $250,000 Inglis Classic in three weeks.

“I have always rated Outback Barbie and Ef Troop (who ran fourth in the Magic Millions) ahead of her but she isn’t far off them,” Gollan said.

“She isn’t very big but she should grow into a nice horses and the Inglis is the right type of race for her.”

Snicki Minaj, by Hinchinbrook, is raced by first-time syndicator Boom Racing and has a large number of owners.
