Snicki Minaj on track for Inglis Classic field

Trainer Tony Gollan may not have got the result he wanted in the Magic Millions Classic but he has high hopes Snicki Minaj can make it to another rich sales-restricted race.

Snicki Minaj is the early favourite for Saturday’s 2YO Handicap (1110m) at Doomben while another stablemate, Miss Bang, will run in a juvenile race over 900m at the Gold Coast.

Gollan has high hopes for both fillies who he rates just behind Magic Millions runners Ef Troop and Outback Barbie.

Snicki Minaj ran seventh at her first start in the Listed Calaway Gal Stakes on December 16.

“She had no luck in the straight and I think should have finished top three,” Gollan said.

“We have been able to give her a freshen-up and provided she races well she will head to Sydney for the Inglis Classic in three weeks.”

Miss Bang was an impressive trial winner at Doomben two weeks ago.

“I thought the 900 metres would be best to start her off and then there is a 1000 metre race for her in a fortnight,” Gollan said.

Gollan is philosophical about the Magic Millions in which Outback Barbie ran third and Ef Troop fourth.

“Things didn’t go right for either of them but you can’t change history, just learn from it,” he said.

“The main thing is they have both pulled up well.”
