A rare opportunity has emerged for racing enthusiasts, as a share in standout colt Coleman is now available through Inglis Digital’s April (Early) Online Sale, which is currently live.
A 10 percent stake in the Pierata colt is on offer and quickly attracted interest, with bidding hitting $80,000 by 4:30pm on Friday.
Regarded as one of the elite colts of his crop, Coleman made an immediate impact as a two-year-old, taking out the Listed Debutant Stakes and the Group 3 Chairman’s Stakes in his first two outings. Despite entering as the favourite, he finished unplaced in the Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes.
He regained form to finish on the podium in the Group 3 Pago Pago Stakes and narrowly missed Golden Slipper glory, finishing second to Lady Of Camelot in the Golden Slipper. He then backed up with a third-place finish in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes.
As a three-year-old, Coleman’s best effort in five starts was a runner-up finish in the Group 2 Roman Consul Stakes during the spring. Since then, he has been moved from Matt Laurie’s stable to leading trainer Chris Waller.
Now back in work, Coleman is being set for a campaign targeting the Brisbane Winter Carnival, with possible starts in both the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 and the Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap.
Other standout lots in the same Inglis Digital sale include Bout—full sister to Flying Artie and in-foal to Shinzo—a stallion share in Russian Revolution, and Capitalist gelding Aardvark, winner of the Listed Talindert Stakes last year. Final bidding kicks off at 10am on Wednesday.
