Scone Guineas 2017 on the agenda for Mr Sneaky

Mr Sneaky is again in line for a trip north of the Victorian border after an impressive win at Caulfield.

The Lee and Anthony Freedman-trained three-year-old made it back-to-back wins when successful in Saturday’s No Fuss Events Hire Handicap.

But there was a break of eight weeks between victories.

In between winning at Flemington on March 4 and his success on Saturday, Mr Sneaky made a trip to Randwick for the Carbine Club Stakes on April 1.

But the three-year-old was withdrawn at the barriers and returned to Melbourne without a run.

Heavily backed on Saturday from $2.50 to run the $2.25 CrownBet favourite, Mr Sneaky gave Dwayne Dunn an early double by defeating Wind Force ($14) by a length with Dane Thunder ($9) a neck away third.

A trip to NSW again beckons for Mr Sneaky for the Scone Guineas on May 13.

Freedman stable spokesman Brad Taylor said Mr Sneaky was brought home after his Sydney misadventure and was required to trial before facing the starter again.

“Today was to get him ready for the Scone Guineas in a couple of weeks,” Taylor said.

“We were going to go to Hawkesbury but we decided to keep him here and concentrate on Scone instead.”

Taylor said Mr Sneaky’s performance at Scone would determine whether the gelding could be bound for the Brisbane winter carnival.

“Dwayne says he’s a 1400 metre horse so we’ll look at our options,” Taylor said.
