A potential trip to Adelaide for a Stakes race is now on the radar for No Limitation following her breakthrough victory at Sandown.

The Clayton Douglas-trained filly showcased her natural speed, leading from start to finish in the Sportsbet Fast Form Handicap (1000m) on Wednesday.

Under the guidance of jockey Luke Currie, No Limitation managed to fend off the race favorite, Facilitate ($2.45), winning by a short-half-head, with Petit Artiste finishing a close third.

Douglas has now set his sights on the Dequetteville Stakes (1000m) at Morphettville Parks on April 5.

Before Wednesday’s victory, No Limitation had run twice but was outclassed in tougher company. She had last competed in the Chairman’s Stakes (Group 3), where she finished within four lengths of the winner before being given a freshen-up.

Douglas was pleased to see the filly hold on for her maiden victory.

“She tackled some good company at her first preparation and her last start here was really solid,” Douglas said.

“I thought Luke rated her really well out in front. She was probably needing the line late and with six weeks between runs, there should be nice improvement in her.

“It’s really good to get a winner for Barry and Midge Griffiths. They’ve been good supporters of the stable and they’re very famous colours.

“Barry purchased this filly himself, and we’ve got the sister at home, so I’m looking forward to success with the family.”

Douglas was confident that running at Sandown before heading to Adelaide was the right decision.

“I sent her to the water-walker for a couple of weeks to freshen up after her last start and gave her a jump-out last week,” Douglas said.

“I was thinking about going straight to the race in Adelaide, but I thought she might need this run under the belt, and she needed it late.

“Barry loves his fillies with a bit of Black Type, so hopefully it was a good call to come here.”
