Race 1 – 1:00pm – Ladbrokes Cash In Plate (1600m)
This is a wide-open race and a tough one to analyse, but I am confident that Blackcomb can return a competitive effort.
Blackcomb finished fourth here at Ladbrokes Park on debut in May, and finished midfield in a similar contest here last month.
She’ll enjoy plenty of improvement for that hit-out and can fight out the finish.
Race 2 – 1:35pm – Ladbrokes Switch Handicap (1600m)
Barb Raider only just missed over 1400m here at Ladbrokes Park last month and can break her maiden under Craig Williams this week.
The Rebel Raider filly filled the minors in a BM64 race here on debut and was beaten only by the promising Adele Amour last time.
Given he hasn’t been taking soft options with her, trainer Jerome Hunter clearly has an opinion of this filly, and she is primed to strike.
Race 3 – 2:10pm – Ladbroke It! Handicap (1000m)
He didn’t show a lot in his return at Flemington last month, but this is a substantial drop in class for Abseiler, and he will take plenty of improvement into this race.
The Extreme Choice colt stamped himself as a runner to follow when an impressive winner down the straight at HQ on debut, and finished fourth in the Listed Blue Diamond Preview most notably.
He is drawn ideally and with even luck, he certainly has the ability to win.
Race 4 – 2:45pm – Ladbrokes Punter Assist Handicap (1000m)
Diamonds Inthe Sky has raced fairly in stronger company than she strikes at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday, and it looks a great opportunity for her to win.
The Zoustar mare hasn’t been far away from the winner in any of her three starts back this time, and was just over two lengths behind Probabeel in the Cockram Stakes last time.
She looks to be at peak fitness for this contest and she is my best bet on the program.
Race 5 – 3:20pm – IVE Print Handicap (1000m)
Sugartown rates as a key winning chance in the fifth at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday.
The Danny O’Brien-trained mare won each of her first two starts back this time, and she has placed in a couple of decent Saturday metro races at Flemington at her last two, finishing form around the likes of Belsielle and Awapuni Princess.
She has been freshened for this race, but that shouldn’t be anything of a problem for her.
Race 6 – 3:55pm – Tile Importer Handicap (1300m)
Linas Legend is yet to return a poor effort and can continue his rise through the grades at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday.
The Teofilo colt placed behind Generation on debut at Caulfield in May and filled the minors again at Flemington; returning from a freshen-up to break his maiden last time.
He’ll take plenty of improvement for that effort and this looks the next logical step.
Race 7 – 4:30pm – Ladbrokes Easy Form Handicap (1300m)
I’m happy to stick with Invincible Jet in the penultimate race at Ladbrokes Park on Wednesday.
Invincible Jet returned to the races with a lovely effort to score in Class 1 company here at Ladbrokes Park, and he was only just denied by The General here last time.
Fitter third-up and getting slightly further out in trip, he can record another win.
Race 8 – 5:05pm – MRC Super Box Handicap (1800m)
He clearly needed the run when finishing midfield over 1400m here when resuming, but Horrifying can win the last at Ladbrokes Park this week.
The Shocking gelding enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence in the autumn and winter, winning a decent Saturday racing at Flemington and ending his prep fifth in the Queensland Derby.
Getting out to 1800m is ideal, he’s drawn ideally, and the booking of Brett Prebble is a bonus.
