An extra eight nominations have been received for the three-year-old features during the Caulfield Cup carnival.

Seven extra nominations were received for the Caulfield Guineas and one for the Thousand Guineas for fillies.

Both races are run over 1600m on October 10.

Debut Caulfield winner Basset, who went on to finish fifth in the J J Atkins Stakes at Eagle Farm at his only other outing for Peter Moody, was among the Guineas late nominations, swelling the entry list to 296.

Other nominations include Ragnaar, Chance Taken, Del Piero, Denominator, Puritan and Thelburg while New Zealand filly Humility was the sole Thousand Guineas nomination taking the entry number to 277.

There were no late nominations for the Caulfield Cup or Cox Plate when entries closed with weights for the Caulfield Cup to be released on September 2.

Melbourne Cup nominations close on September 1.
