The Group 1 $600,000 Rosehill Guineas at Rosehill on Saturday has assembled a field of thirteen three-year-olds, including the Randwick Guineas winner Shadow Hero.
The Mark Newnham trained Shadow Hero stormed home from midfield to claim a second Group 1 trophy in the Randwick Guineas and the step up to the 2000m this week looks ideal.
Sydney’s leading trainer Chris Waller has won the last two editions of the Rosehill Guineas with D’Argento (2018) and The Autumn Sun (2019) and has a great chance to record a hat trick with three runners this year, Reloaded, Pancho and Impactful.

Castelvecchio
Castelvecchio has finished out of the place at his two runs back this campaign but will be better suited stepping up to the 2000m of the Rosehill Guineas after a fourth in the 1600m Randwick Guineas, but still has to improve on his recent form to figure in the finish.
Shadow Hero
Shadow Hero claimed his second Group 1 win with a powerful finish to win the Randwick Guineas over 1600m at Randwick on March 7. The Mark Newnham trained Shadow Hero was very strong at the end of the 1600m and the step up to the 2000m of the Rosehill Guineas looks ideal and he looks the one to beat again.
Warning
Warning put in a solid effort last start when fifth in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) and will appreciate the step up to the 2000m of the Rosehill Guineas. Warning proved to be the superior staying three year old during the 2019 Melbourne Spring Carnival with his win in the Group 1 Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington and another handy effort will see him cherry ripe for the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick in a couple of weeks.
Sherwood Forest
Kiwi three year old Sherwood Forest is dropping back in distance after winning the 2400m Group 1 New Zealand Derby at Ellerslie on February 29 and can’t be taken lightly. One to keep an eye on for the Group 1 Australian Derby (2400m) at Randwick in a couple of weeks.
Scorpz
Scorpz is another Kiwi coming off a third in the Group 1 New Zealand Derby (2400m) at Ellerslie at the end of February. The Stephen Marsh trained colt has recent consistent form with three placings since January and could figure amongst the prizemoney again.
Prince Fawaz
Prince Fawaz has failed to finish in the placings from four starts since winning the Group 1 J J Atkins Plate (1600m) at the end of his two year old season during the 2019 Brisbane Winter Carnival. The Anthony Cummings trained colt never threatened when seventh in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Randwick last start and will find this no easier.
Reloaded
The Chris Waller trained Reloaded has been around the minor money at his last two starts with a second in the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) at Rosehill followed by a fourth in the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) at Randwick last start. Set the pace in the Randwick Guineas and cold find himself in the firing line for a long way again.
Pancho
Pancho is the second of the Chris Waller runners in the Rosehill Guineas and could only beat one runner home last start when eleventh in the Randwick Guineas. Will find this just as tough.
The Holy One
Victorian trained colt The Holy One has been unplaced from three runs this preparation, his latest a sixth in the Randwick Guineas. The Holy One was a Group 2 winner at The Valley during the 2019 Melbourne Spring Carnival but will find this harder.
Chenier
The Anthony Freedman trained Chenier made up some ground but never really threatened when fourth in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) at Flemington on February 29. Chenier has won a recent 1200m Randwick barrier trial and he should be suited by the step up to the 2000m.
Chains Of Honour
Chains Of Honour was always near the tail of the field when ninth in a 2000m BenchMark 88 Handicap at Randwick on February 29 and will find this a lot tougher.
Get The Idea
Get The Idea is still eligible for restricted class and is way out of his depth here.
Impactful
Impactful looks way out of his class here coming off a second in a 1900m Canterbury BenchMark 64 Handicap on February 28.
