Rolling Pin could back up

Trainer Gwenda Markwell will consult with the owners of last-start flop Rolling Pin before deciding if he will back up at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

The gelding started favourite in a 1500m race at Rosehill last Saturday but was one of the first horses beaten and finished seventh of the nine runners.

Markwell has since reiterated to stewards that she felt a 21-day break between runs and the limited availability of training facilities at Kembla due to the recent wet weather were the major factors behind his failure.

She also reported Rolling Pin worked at Kembla on Thursday morning and pleased her but a final decision on whether he took his place in Saturday’s Comfort Inn Hunts Liverpool Handicap (1600m) at Warwick Farm would be up to his owners.

He was the $4.60 race favourite with TAB Sportsbet on Thursday.
