Rebel Dane has caused a boilover in the Manikato Stakes at Moonee Valley in which Chautauqua has failed for the second time this spring.
Starting at $61, the Gary Portelli-trained seven-year-old beat Fell Swoop to win Friday night’s 1200m Group One sprint, three years after his other elite level win in the Sir Rupert Clarke Stakes.
Chautauqua’s co-trainer Wayne Hawkes said the star spriner would take no further part in the carnival.
