Randwick-Kensington will host another quality seven-race program on Wednesday, August 25th.
The rail will remain in the true position around the entire course and at publish, we’re faced with a track rated in the Good (4) range.
Race 1 – 1:25pm – 1st Crop Calyx Foals Handicap (1300m)
Achira will make her return to the races at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday and can break her maiden.
The Maurice filly had just two starts during her debut preparation, running fourth on debut at Canterbury and returning to the paddock after filling the minors in the Clarendon Stakes.
She has had the benefit of a couple of trials in the lead-up to her return and this is a drop in class.
Race 2 – 2:00pm – Arrowfield Virtual Parade Handicap (1100m)
There isn’t a lot of form to take in ahead of Race 2, but I think t hat All England can break his maiden.
The I Am Invincible colt showed promise at the trials prior to debuting, and he has finished third and fourth in two maiden races here at Randwick-Kensington so far.
Fitter third-up and from barrier 1, he has claims on winning once more.
Race 3 – 2:35pm – Vinery Handicap (1250m)
Starman was an impressive winner on debut and can go on with it at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday.
The Zoustar colt had a handful of trials prior to debuting and put the writing on the wall with an easy win here late last month.
This is harder, but he has plenty of upside, and he is drawn to receive every chance again from barrier 3.
Race 4 – 3:10pm – Benchmark 72 Handicap (1400m)
Brookspire can make a winning return at Wednesday’s Randwick-Kensington meeting.
The Hinchinbrook mare hasn’t been seen at the races since May, but she is yet to miss placing at this point of her preparation, and this is a decent drop in class from what she was contesting last time.
She’s had a couple of nice trials in the lead-up to her return and with even luck, she’ll take plenty of beating.
Race 5 – 3:45pm – The Agency Real Estate Handicap (1250m)
I’m going to give Seleque another chance in Sydney this week.
The Chris Waller-trained mare couldn’t have been more impressive when greeting the judge comfortably ahead of her rivals at Warwick Farm when fresh and only just missed in a similar race at Canterbury second-up.
I thought she was a little disappointing, albeit in a better race on the main track here last time out, but dropping back in grade and with some relief in the weights, this does look a great opportunity for her to strike.
Race 6 – 4:20pm – Bowermans Commercial Furniture Handicap (1550m)
This is a rise in class, but Toomuchtobear has continued to improve with racing and as the bar has been raised, and he can record a win in town on Wednesday.
The Press Statement gelding returned to winning form at Bendigo two back, beating home the likes of Mr Brightside, and he franked that effort with an easy win at Newcastle last time.
He’s rock-hard fit and James McDonald rides from a good draw.
Race 7 – 4:45pm – Territories @ Darley Handicap (1100m)
Loch Lomond has been confirmed to return in the last at Randwick-Kensington on Wednesday and I am keen to have something on.
The Sacred Falls gelding was excellent during his debut preparation, winning each of his first two starts and ending his prep seventh in the Provincial Championships Final, beaten just over two lengths by Cristal Breeze.
He’s had the benefit of a coupe of trials in the lead-up to his return and looks ready to go.
