News:

Solicit has added another stakes win to her record with attention now shifting to the autumn and an elusive Group One victory.

Trainer Gerald Ryan has pinpointed the Coolmore Classic as the race for Solicit to attempt to break through at the top level.

The Coolmore for fillies and mares is over the same distance as Saturday’s Summoned Stakes (1500m) in which Solicit streeted her rivals by 4-1/4 lengths in a dominant front-running win.

The mare was narrowly beaten first-up in the Tristarc Stakes at Caulfield before finishing unplaced in the Myer Classic which Ryan said was a run which should be forgiven.

He believes the classy mare has a Group One win in her.

“She probably got to the mile too quickly second-up in the Myer Classic,” Ryan said.

“She was going to go to stud and they decided at the end of July not to, so she was just on a tight schedule getting to the Myer. And she did take good improvement from that run.”

Ryan said Solicit would now spend about three weeks in the paddock before returning to build towards her autumn target.

“We’ll aim towards the Coolmore Classic. It’s over 1500 metres on her home track at Rosehill,” Ryan said.

“I don’t think she’ll be running at Randwick because in her two runs at Randwick she’s been beaten a total of 68 lengths.”

Solicit was formerly trained by Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra in Melbourne before owner David Moodie transferred her to Ryan earlier this year hoping a change of scenery would switch her on.

Saturday’s victory was the mare’s second win in eight starts for Ryan.

Solicit’s best Group One results have been a close third in the 2013 VRC Oaks and a second in the Vinery Stud Stakes last year, while she has four Group wins to her credit.
