Queensland’s superstar sprinter Buffering has replaced Rebel Dane as favourite at Sportingbet for Saturday’s Doomben 10,000, despite both horses drawing wide barriers for the Group 1 feature over 1350m.
Buffering firmed from $4.50 to $4 at Sportingbet.com.au after drawing barrier 8, while Rebel Dane drifted from $4 to $4.40 after landing the visitor’s draw of gate 10.
“The wide gate will make things that much more tougher for Rebel Dane. He still needs to prove he can do it and he was priced more on ability before,” Sportingbet’s Andrew Brown said.
“The Buff is a proven weight for age performer and if he’s right, he’s entitled to go in to the race as favourite.”
Spirit Of Boom sits right behind in betting at $4.60 with Sportingbet, while Famous Seamus ($8) is the only other runner under double figures.
