News:

Group One-winning mare Miss Cover Girl is primed to finish her career on a high in the Group Three Glenlogan Park Stakes at Eagle Farm.

Miss Cover Girl has won eight of her 31 starts and $847,900 prize money with her biggest win coming in the Group One Tatt’s Tiara at Eagle Farm last June.

The five-year-old is headed to the Magic Millions National Sale on Tuesday week to be sold as a broodmare.

She has had one run this campaign, finishing third in the Group Two Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm two weeks ago.

Trainer Kelly Schweida has kept her ticking over with a trial at Doomben last week in which she finished fifth.

“It was a blanket finish and she was about half a length from the winner. She is a five-year-old mare now and the time is right to send her to stud,” Schweida said.

“It would be lovely to send her out a winner. No matter what happens she will be worth a bit as a broodmare.”

“There aren’t many Group One winning mares around for sale so I am sure she will bring in the high six figures or even seven figures.”

Schweida said Miss Cover Girl had shown she could take on all comers.

“She raced well in Sydney and won the P J Bell Stakes there which is also good when it comes to the sales. It means she is well known interstate.

“Another Group Three win would be a bonus and we do know she handles Eagle Farm which is a question over a few others.”

Magic Millions sales director David Chester said the broodmare sale looked like being one of the best ever.

“Miss Cover Girl is one of an outstanding batch of mares to go through the sales. I think 11 of them raced around Australia on Saturday,” he said.

She is one of 32 entries for Saturday’s 1300m-race for fillies and mares.
